Greenlee, an American company founded in 1862 by twin brothers Robert L. and Ralph S. Greenlee in Rockford, Illinois, initially specialized in woodworking and barrel-making. Notably, their revolutionary hollow chisel mortiser (1874) transformed mortise and tenon joinery. Greenlee gradually expanded into diverse hand woodworking tools and machinery for barrel production.
