ADC Telecommunications, Inc., established in Minneapolis in 1935 by Bell Laboratory engineers Ralph Allison and Walter Lehnert, began as Audio Development Company (ADC). ADC's journey has been marked by significant milestones, including its merger with Magnetic Controls Company in 1961 to form ADC Magnetic Controls. Throughout its history, ADC has been a trailblazer in telecommunications, pioneering innovative products such as custom transformers and amplifiers for the radio broadcast industry, audiometers for hearing tests, and the industry-standard Bantam jack for telephone circuit access. Diversifying its operations, ADC ventured into fiber optics, broadband connectivity, and wireless networks, reaffirming its commitment to telecommunications. Rather than pursuing direct competition, ADC's strategy centered on collaboration with industry giants, contributing to its resilience in a competitive market. In 2010, ADC was acquired by Tyco Electronics and later integrated into TE Connectivity, ultimately ceasing to operate as an independent entity in 2011.
