An optocoupler allows the transmission of an electrical signal between two isolated circuits. The optoisolator does this by using an infrared LED and a photosensitive device that detects light. When a current is applied to the optocoupler, the optical sensor detects an infrared light emitted by the LED. This causes the photosensitive device to conduct current, powering the second device. PoOnHand is your source for high-speed optocouplers and other optoelectronics.
